This machine brings a whole new level of possibilities to your metal shaping projects and drastically reduces the time taken to shrink and stretch material. The EPH560 Power Hammer will shrink and stretch up to 1.2mm (18swg) mild steel and 1.6mm (16swg) aluminium using the included thumbnail shrinking dies, as well as a huge range of radiussed steel and nylon forming heads.

It can also be used for a multitude of shaping operations from linear stretching, beading, louvres, doming, edge setting, joggling, tipping and flanging. One of the most unique features is the ability to make your own tooling, which can then be easily inserted into the supplied universal tool holders, to create virtually any shape desired. A common application would be a unique shaped bead in a car floor pan, or a bodywork moulding. By purchasing some of our 60mm x 16mm optionional blanks, you can cut the desired shape using a plasma cutter or abrafile to make male and female dies. These 2 halves are then dressed and inserted into the tool holders. Tooling can also be manufactured by 3D printing from plastic. This opens the power hammer up to so many possibilities not usually possible without expensive machining costs.

One of the most common tooling sets used on the power hammer thumbnail shrinking dies (included) which rapidly create a "tuck shrink" into the panel, which is then hammered into itself as the panel is retracted. This thickens and shortens the material which, in turn, makes it curve. Tuck shrinking is a manual technique used since the days of making armour, that has been sped up using this mechanical approach. 

The EPH560 Power Hammer comes with a comprehensive 49pcs tooling selection for shrinking, stretching, planishing, doming, beading and louvre forming. Other optional tooling includes joggling, flanging, edge setting and many shaping tools.

The EPH560 Power Hammer can be run from a standard 230v 3 pin supply and is remarkably quiet in operation. The speed is controlled from 2 places; the pedal control and the panel knob. The pedal works like a throttle in a car (0-100%) to the maximum set on the knob. This makes for accurate control of the tooling.

A unique feature of the EPH560 is the ability to switch the hammer action from either "rigid" or "dampened" by turning a dial under the clear window on the front of the machine. The rigid setting is used for direct operations such a beading, flanging and louvres where a definitive depth is required for uniformity. The "dampened" setting activates 4 springs and is used for planishing, shrinking, stretching etc. This is where the power hammer has an advantage over used Pullmax machines which are fied at rigid.

Tooling can be changed in seconds using the collet chuck and the lower tool holder is adjusted for clearnace up and down by handwheel. Another handwheel on the motor enables the operator to move the upper tool to its lowest postion to set the tool for the correct material thickness.

A adjustable backstop is included with 2 optional fitments (fixed for straight edges and roller for curves). Throat depth is 560mm.
